Our History

Community Living Hanover began as Harc Inc. Established in 1977, in the quaint village of Neustadt, Ontario, our organization started as a small farming operation supporting a few individuals.

Today, we're a non-profit, charitable organization that has been providing services for over 30 years to people with developmental disabilities and their families, who live in Hanover, Neustadt and area.

Our goal is to provide support to people that will enable them to live, work and become an active member of our community. We strive to provide individuals with opportunities and support to become active and engaged members of their community.

The agency is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and receives funding from the Ministry of Community and Social Services. However, many of the activities supported do not receive government funding or assistance.  Our Board must engage in fundraising activities and events to assist our supported individuals participate in many of the activities they enjoy.

Funds raised at these events, such as our annual golf tournament, are used to support special needs hockey, summer Olympics, bowling, and a variety of other events throughout the year.  Funds also assist in purchasing furniture and equipment within our residential programs and enhance the quality of life of many individuals.

Mission Statement
Community Living Hanover & Area is committed to fostering meaningful opportunities for all people we support. We believe that a holistic approach, informed choice and quality of life, is of the upmost importance. As a community support service we welcome uniqueness, and celebrate the abilities of everyone.
